YOUTHS INTERRUPT PRESIDENT'S MEETING IN MIGORI

Chaos marred President Uhuru Kenyatta’s public meeting in Migori Town on Monday.
A group of youths, who were strategically standing in front of the dais, began chanting ODM slogans soon after Migori Governor Okoth Obado moved to the microphone to address the gathering to welcome political leaders present.
Commotion then ensued as the youths threw plastic chairs across the field that was teeming with people.
Shoes were also hurled towards the dais.
Alarmed presidential security guards immediately threw a cordon around the tent where President Kenyatta and other dignitaries were. The President remained calm.
A section of the crowd, especially women and children, then took to their heels as armed police officers cocked their guns. No shots were fired.
However, scores of people sustained minor injuries after they were trampled upon at the main exit gate as they rushed to get out of the Migori Primary School grounds, the venue of the meeting.

President Kenyatta pleaded for the leaders present to be allowed to speak, to no avail.
“Can we give them one minute each to speak before I continue?” asked the Head of State. But the crowd roared back in the negative, as they continued chanting ODM slogans.
The leaders present included Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma, Senators Charles Keter (Kericho), Joy Gwendo (nominated) and Wilfred Machage (Migori).
Also present were MPs John Kobado (Uriri), Shadrack Manga (Kuria East), Mathias Robi (Kuria West), Edick Anyanga (Nyatike), Joseph Ndiege (Suna West),Gedion Konchella (Kilgoris) and Jimmy Agwenyi (Kitutu Chache North).
Mr Angwenyi then walked out of the stadium in protest and headed straight to his car saying; “These guys cannot embarrass the President like this as I watch."
“This is a big shame I cannot withstand,” he charged.
Earlier, efforts by Mr Anyanga and Dr Machage to calm the crowd fell on deaf ears.interrupt

THE HAGUE

The ICC case against Deputy President William Ruto and radio journalist Joshua arap Sang resumes on an uncertain note today after a one-month break. Here is a recap of the witnesses who have featured in the case so far.
By a Nairobi-based reporter for The Hague Trials Kenya
The session - expected to run until 4 October – will feature nine uncooperative prosecution witnesses who are expected to testify from Kenya via video-link. Although the government confirmed that it served all the witnesses with summonses as required by the ICC, it is not clear whether the witnesses have all confirmed that they will indeed testify.
On April 17, trial judges Chile Eboe-Osuji and Robert Fremr ordered that Witness 15, 16, 336, 397, 516, 524, 495 and 323 should appear before the court. According to this decision - in which Judge Olga Herrera Carbuccia dissented – Kenya had the obligation to facilitate (“by way of a compulsory measure”) their appearance and security throughout the preparation and duration of their testimonies. Witness 15, who was left out of the list, is also expected to testify at this session.
The eight summoned witnesses had previously provided the ICC prosecution with statements which allegedly contained “highly relevant potential evidence” for the Ruto and Sang trial. However, according to the prosecution, in spite of various protective measures, the eight had turned hostile and were no longer willing to cooperate.
For instance, Witness 15 had told the prosecution that he participated in 11 planning meetings - attended by Ruto - in which procurement of arms, selection of field commanders and other logistics were discussed. This witness allegedly participated in attacks on Yamumbi, Eldoret and could describe Sang’s involvement in the commissioning of those crimes.
Witness 16 allegedly attended two planning meetings with Ruto: one on 15 October 2007 in Kaptabee and the other on 14 December 2007 in Ruto’s Sugoi home. The witness reportedly also gave a first-hand account of his participation in the attack on Turbo town.
While confirming the charges against Ruto in early 2012, the ICC judges said that given the evidence, Ruto hosted a series of meetings, some at his Sugoi house where violence was planned. That in fact, the meetings covered the hierarchy of commanders, identification of targets, purchase of weapons, transport arrangements and reward systems to pay off the youth. It also confirmed that Ruto was the defacto leader of the Kalenjin community and that he appeared to have been the leader of the network which coordinated the violence in the Rift Valley region.
With regards to Sang’s involvement in the PEV, the judges stated that, given the evidence, he placed his radio show at the disposal of the organizers of the violence. In particular, it indicated that Sang advertised their meetings and that he himself fanned violence by spreading “hate messages explicitly revealing [the] desire to expel Kikuyus.”
In spite of the efforts by Ruto and Sang’s defence teams and the Kenyan government to opposed the subpoena ruling, on June 17, a presiding judge in the appeal, Akua Kuenyehia, refused to suspend the April decision to subpoena the eight witnesses. The appellate decision is still pending.
The ICC trial of Ruto and Sang has faced a number of challenges since its commencement last year, most notably being, the persistent breaks, initially caused by time constraints because of Ruto’s "extraordinary" duties in Kenya. This problem has since been solved through the amendment of the Rules of Procedure and Evidence to accommodate his circumstances.
Another serious challenge has been the withdrawal of witnesses. Although Bensouda had initially planned to call 40 witnesses, she had only called 21 when the case took a break in July.
When the case started, the first witness to take the stand was Witness 536. She testified about the arson attack on Kiambaa church and provided evidence on the organization of the attacks. Various other witnesses who talked about the Kiambaa arson also testified about the organized attackers who donned distinct attire and painted faces.
The second witness  - Witness 326 - placed Ruto at the apex of the opposition leadership in the Rift Valley region. He said Ruto was the ODM pentagon member representing the Rift Valley area, and this placed him in an unparalleled power position. In essence, the witness linked Ruto’s ODM party to the violence by testifying about how the violence was funded.
The fourth witness’s - Witness 376 - testimony concerned Ruto’s alleged use of the term “madoadoa” which, allegedly, incited the Kalenjin youth against the Kikuyu community in the Rift Valley region.
The twelfth witness also corroborated the “madoadoa” claims by testifying that he attended an ODM rally at the Nandi Hills Stadium in Kapchorua around October 2007, where Ruto allegedly asked the Kalenjin people present to uproot the “trees” planted in their midst by departing colonialists.
[A summary the twelfth witness' testimony: Witness says Ruto and Kosgey repeated calls to evict non-Kalenjins from the Rift Valley]
Various other witnesses linked Ruto’s associates to the violence. The fifteenth witness said that Councillor Sammy Ruto - who had won the Kimumu ward electoral seat in Eldoret on an ODM ticket - moved around the area in a celebratory convoy asking Kikuyus to leave for Othaya, the birthplace of former President Mwai Kibaki.
Another witness - Witness 613 - named Ruto’s personal assistant, Farouk Kibet, as one of the people who attended a political meeting held at Ruto’s Sugoi home. This meeting features prominently in the prosecution claims against Ruto.
During the previous session, the last witness to take the stand was former Commission of Inquiry into Post-Election Violence (CIPEV) Commissioner Gavin Alistair McFadyen. Through him, the court introduced the CIPEV report, popularly known as Waki Report, as evidence.
The report is reputed to have been a sincere and honest interrogation of Kenya’s collective conscience following the post-election violence of 2007/8. Before the commission was formed, there was a broad consensus among the warring political sides and the strong support continued until the report came out.
The report’s supporting evidence and a secret envelope containing lists of the key perpetrators of the violence were handed over to former ICC Prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo who commenced the Kenya ICC cases. According to McFyden, Ruto's name was in the secret envelope.Through McFadyen, the prosecution also introduced other related documents received as exhibits during the Waki inquiry.
Other than the nine witnesses scheduled to testify in this session, it is unlikely that ICC prosecutor Bensouda has other witnesses in her cards. Once she wraps up her presentation of the evidence, the defence will get a chance to give their side of the story.
But as the judges have ruled before, the defence can opt to move a no-case to answer motion before the court. Recently, the judges informed the defence about the criteria for such an application.

[This article was modified on 3 September 2014 to correct the identity of one of the witnesses. The earlier version indicated that one of the witnesses, "423", was among those summoned to appear before the Trial Chamber. The identity of this witness has been corrected to "323".]

LOVE IS LIKE FAITH WHICH CAN MOVE MOUNTAIN

Daniel Simiyu
Why he behave so!! Now days? This are the questions that I always ask my self. He is my best friend but I have tried to research in order to come up with the conclusion but all was not well and possible with me. I always  believe am a media personnel who has the nose for news but this round I was about to give u on the issue. This proved to me that all you do you must have patience and you cannot arrive on what you intend to do without putting God your creator first. At last I found my self getting a clue on what was happening with my best friend.
Love!! love!! is like faith which can move mountain. My friend is a staunch christian who has changed my life from a non believer to believer. he has contributed a lot of positive things in my life. He mend me from nothing to something. My achievement is his mentally and emotionality contribution. How can I leave him to go back where I was?
It was yesterdays weekend which I noticed unusual thing that I have ever seen him do since we started our friend ship two years ago. He is always a friend to many girls but this one left me astonished. He made me to find a place to spent a night living my only mattress which I only enjoy while am on secession. I did not believe what was happening that night. My friend behaved in an awkward manner like an a dict drunkard. I just went and found a place to lie my weak body with full of stress. I left him with her newly trapped bird. I tried to figure out if I have ever seen the girl among our company but my mind could not recall, but though the girl was not my first glance on her.
while I was a sleep I recalled a story that my very friend was narrating to me about how bad girls are and more was the story that he narrated to me was the story concerning the evil thing that the girl had committed since she joined campus. Another question now followed " was my friend a saviour who will make the girl repent and move away from Egypt to Canaan? And if so why is he spending a night with her yet he has many times assured me that he will never do such thing until he get married.  Was his marriage time ?
Morning came  and I decided to delay so that I find them awake. When I reached the room what I so left ma mouth wide open and my eyes glued on what was in the room not believing what I was seeing. at first I thought I was dreaming. My friend was not their the girl is not their and the rum was empty with only the university beds and mattresses belonging to I and him available in the room. Before I come  back from the world of confusion, my phone rung and the call was from the police station. Before I finished talking through the phone our university security were at the door. One of them was with a big cab, and the other one was holding a glittering slasher indicating that it was very sharp.
As I  started to ask what was wrong  the one who had a sharpened slasher lifted the slasher in the air with all the force. I made a loud scream requesting help from ma fellow comrade. I made an effort to  protect my head from being splashed into half by holding his hand. Ooh!! I was straggling with ma friends and I found my self being laughed at by my fellow room mate. My friend was waking me up to rush in the lecture as I was being late for the exam.

THE REAL COMRADE

The Moi university students decided to put down their tools in order to demand for their rights. The unplanned strike was led by the 3rd years who saw themselves as the affected group to be sent for the long holiday.
Speaking to one of the student said that in Moi university anything which appear as a roomer is always implemented. "this is the university where the administration brings out something to measure the reaction of comrades and if their is no any reaction the roomer is immediately implemented,"one of the student said.

The students decided not to listen from anybody even including the dean of students. The only person whom the were targeting to hear from was the vice chancellar

They also extended their demand to stop the administration from admitting the first years but instead their Helb money to be released, "hatutaki freshaz, tunataka helb", they sang in unison.

SUCCESS

Everybody will like to succeed in what he does. But success come through hard work and perseverance in hard and harsh conditions.  Most  successful people once went through hard and harsh conditions for them to be successful.
Success is like a football tournament. It start from the bottom where everybody has equal opportunity to lift the trophy. The team that that will remain consistent has high chances of lifting the trophy. Though during the competition their are so many challenges and harsh conditions that the team must go through in order to remain  and have hope to lift the trophy. Discipline among the players can cause the whole team to have worst results as the best players may be suspended thus leading to worst results. Also the best players may be injured during the competition and this may cause the whole team.
Through this I have learned that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life he has imagined, he will meet success unexpected in common hours.

TIME TO PROVE YOURSELF

There is time for everything. Time to be born and time to die, time to read and time to seat for exams. As  it is always said, practice makes perfect. This is exactly what is happening in Moi University main campus.
Students for the past few weeks have been seriously reading and preparing for the end semester exams. Exam cards was the vocabulary of the day. Those who had not cleared their fee were wondering how they will secure this vital thing.
The time to seat for the exam finally arrived and know what you could see is the color of different exam cards. This is the time you can differentiate who is the senior student in the University as every level has its own color of the examination card.
I wish all the students seating for their examinations success.
